Read Saved Audit Logs - The Log Viewer

The audit and debug logging facility allows you to maintain a record of activity through an App Server by storing various messages which provide information about what's been happening.

Audit and debug server-side messages are mainly stored in the App Server Configuration Database and these messages can be read within App Manager. App Manager also allows you to save the log to file from the Options button in the App Manager Auditing tabs. If you do this, you can read the log file using the Log Viewer utility.

To view a saved log, you can load the Log Viewer from within App Manager in one of the following ways:

  • Click File → Log Viewer…

    or

  • Click the Server Category button (bottom left of the App Manager window) and then click on the Log Viewer link at the bottom of the right-hand pane.

The Log Viewer will load and display a file open dialog box. Navigate to the log file you want to open and double-click on it.

The file will be opened and display in the viewer. The viewer's appearance is similar to the Auditing tabs within App Manager. You can filter the messages displayed by message type and time period just as you can in the Audit Pane.

If you want to close one log file and open another, click the File button (top right of the dialog box) and locate the new file and either double-click on the file or select it and then choose the Open button.

When you have finished close down the viewer using the standard close button in the top right-hand corner of the window, Picture showing the Close window button..
